ABC Cancellations and Full Season Orders

ABC has joined the fray with the cancellation of its freshman series Charlie's Angels and full season orders for the debuting Revenge and Suburgatory.

Charlie's Angels falling under the swing of the cancellation ax comes as no surprise as there were clear signs of trouble in paradise. After the respectable premiere (8.76 million viewers), the ratings dropped abruptly and never recovered. Since then, the series has been systematically outperformed by all other shows in its Thursday time-slot and has not only been canceled, but production on the show has been stopped.

Same network, entirely different story for Revenge and Suburgatory, two shows that have managed to retain their viewers after the inevitable drop following the premiere. Revenge (loosely inspired from Alexandre Dumas's The Count of Monte Christo) even gave the alphabet network the lead on its premiere night (and this very week) in the coveted 18-49 demographic. Full season pickups for these two were then pretty much expected.

The jury is still out on Pan Am, the other ABC freshman drama, which is currently not faring well in the ratings and might be coming in for a landing soon. Its fate (in this case more accurately "descent") is closely monitored by Dana Delany's fans as it might determine what happens to Body of Proof, the struggling returning series.
