Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. – Many Heads, One Tale Review

On this week’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episode “Many Heads, One Tale” we finally got some good old fashioned teamwork, as well as a much needed history lesson. Let’s take a closer look at what we learned in episode 3.8, . After weeks of separate missions and a team member literally being on another planet, we got a full fledged mission with everyone, which are always my favorite type of episodes. The mission this time around was to infiltrate the ATCU and gain access to whatever intelligence they could get their hands on. Coulson fooled everyone (including me) into thinking he was being naive and falling for Rosalind, but of course he had a plan all along. I should have known better. He gained her trust and invited her for a private tour of SHIELD just to distract her and get his own team into the ATCU facilities. It was the perfect plan, but of course it had a few hitches. Bobbi and Hunter went in undercover as IT specialists who were preventing a hack, even though they were clearly doing the opposite. While Hunter pretended to fix a security issue, Bobbi tried to find Andrew. Of course he was nowhere to be found, but she did discover some dark corners of the ATCU. Not only are they not developing a cure for the Inhumans, but they are doing the exact opposite by forcing every employee to take fish oil, in hopes to create more Inhumans. We also got to see Bobbi kicking ass, which unsurprisingly never gets old. We also got a look at May working with Lincoln, who was adorably terrified of her. He thought she was mad that he helped get Andrew captured, but in reality she was just trying to find a way to apologize on Andrew’s behalf. It was really pretty sweet and strange at the same time. I don’t think we’ve ever seen May apologize and I doubt we will again. We also got a cute scene with Lincoln and Daisy. They sort of kind of acknowledged their kiss from a few episodes ago, but I just don’t feel any chemistry there. The only thing they have in common is that they are both Inhuman. We’ll see if anything more comes from their awkward friendship. While this whole mission was underway, Fitz and Simmons were in their own little research world. Fitz has been doing everything he can to help learn more about the monolith, but Simmons still has an outburst about him being too nice. Apparently he really can’t do anything right. They talk it out and they FINALLY kiss. It was the best/worst moment of the episode, because Simmons still confessed that she loves Will. Fitz saying that they are cursed just about broke my heart. These two are star-crossed lovers if I’ve ever seen any. I guess we can just be thankful that they finally kissed not once, but twice this episode. No matter what happens, we'll always have that scene. Back with Rosalind’s tour, Coulson finally revealed that it was all a trap. They got really heated and it was actually pretty sad how betrayed Rosalind looked. She really thought her and Coulson had something together. The good news is that maybe their relationship can be fixed! It turned out she had no idea the ATCU was creating Inhumans, because guess who’s in charge of that department? That's right, Gideon Malick, the new/old face of Hydra. Yet another plot twist I didn’t see coming. This show is bringing it this season. In the end, everything came together when Fitz and Simmons realized that Hydra was behind the NASA mission Will was sent on. Everything's coming up Hydra. So they sacrificed Will, are creating an Inhuman army and have kidnapped Andrew. Plus, Ward is now Gideon’s right-hand man. Gideon also revealed that the monolith has always been a part of Hydra’s history, but they have never been able to bring someone back like SHIELD has. This little reveal has me wondering if Will was one hundred percent truthful about who he is. Could he be a Hydra agent? I’m probably wrong, but I hope he is evil so Simmons can finally be with Fitz. I will not give up on my cursed couple. Final Thoughts: Overall this was one of the best episodes so far this season. It had the whole team working together, a Fitz and Simmons scene sealed with a kiss and a few plot twists for good measure. I can’t wait until Ward gets what’s coming to him, but we’ll have to wait two whole weeks until that happens. I’m still kind of hoping for Coulson and Rosalind to make things work. I mean how great would they be as co-directors? Obviously they both has trust issues, but Coulson said it himself that all agents share that quality. It’s just part of the job. Also, I have to give Mack another shout out. He is really the comedic voice of reason. He flat out asked Coulson if he was sleeping with Rosalind, which is basically what everyone was wondering. They can’t get anything past Mack.
