Alice Eve Joins “Star Trek 2” in Unknown Role

"Star Trek" fans have been salivating for sequel news since J.J. Abrams' 2009 reboot knocked the franchise back into high-gear. Having suffered a number of setbacks — mostly a result of cast/crew members going off to do other projects — it was recently announced that Star Trek 2 will be released May 17, 2013, Abrams will return to direct and nearly the entire cast would reprise their roles.

Now, Alive Eve (She’s Out of My League) will join the cast as a new character to the rebooted series. Don’t expect to know who she’ll be playing though. This is an Abrams project, after all, and not even Variety could get a speck of detail on Eve’s role. The news of her casting follows the widely-circulated rumors of Benicio Del Toro (Traffic, The Wolfman) joining the cast as the unnamed villain. On top of the casting news (that’s only going to grow in the coming months), the sequel will be shot in 3D and will be written by Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman (both of whom wrote the 2009 film) as well as Abrams and his longtime Lost partner Damon Lindelof.
