Aliens: Colonial Marines Cancelled for Wii U

Sega today has announced the cancelation of the Wii U version of Aliens: Colonial Marines.

Announced on E3 2011, Colonial Marines was one of the first third-party titles announced for the platform. After launching on Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC in February, the game was panned by critics for several bugs in addition to terrible visuals, AI, and multiplayer. Our own Kyle Enz gave it a 2 out of 10, saying that it is “a broken mess of a game that shouldn’t exist.”

Sega sent Game Informer an expanded statement later in the day stating that they have some “fantastic developments for Wii U in the pipeline.” This was to reassure that this cancelation was because of Aliens and not because of the Wii U as a platform.

Don’t fret, Nintendo fans. If you’re dying to scratch an Alien itch, play Aliens: Infestation on the Nintendo DS. It’s one of the best Alien games ever made.
