Amanda Seyfried Cast as Porn Star Linda Lovelace

A biopic on the life and career of porn icon Linda Lovelace has been making the rounds around Hollywood and now has found its leading lady in Amanda Seyfried. Seyfried, who currently can be seen in Andrew Niccol’s In Time, landed the role shortly after news broke that Peter Sarsgaard was in negotiations to play Lovelace’s husband Chuck Traynor.

Not much has been revealed in terms of the actual plot, but Deadline has it that the project (titled Lovelace) will be based on Eric Danville’s book The Complete Linda Lovelace and likely detail her introduction to porn via Traynor and going on to star in Deep Throat, one of the most famous porn films of all time. Not long after the release of “Throat,” Lovelace divorced her husband, claimed he forced her to enter the industry and lent her voice to the anti-pornography movement for some time.

Originally, James Franco and Kate Hudson were scheduled to star as the husband and wife, but scheduling difficulties and Hudson’s subsequent pregnancy put the actors out of contention and the project on hold for a while. The story will be adapted by Andy Bellin (Trust) and W. Merritt Johnson (Temple Grandin). Jeffrey Friedman and Rob Epstein (Howl) will direct with a production start scheduled for January 2012.
