Amazon Reveals New Pilots

Amazon has announced some new programming for its next pilot season. One of which is the drama The Interestings, adapted from the novel by Meg Wolitzer with the same title. The Interestings follows a group of artistic teenagers who meet at a summer camp in 1974. Their friendships are put to the test as they make the transition into adulthood through tragedy, failure, success, secrecy and everything in between over the next few decades, according to Variety. _DG25761.NEF The series stars David Krumholtz (Numb3rs), Jessica Pare (Mad Men), Matt Barr (Sleepy Hallow), and Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under). The pilot was directed by Mike Newell and written by Lyn Greene and Richard Levine. The other big ticket pilot is The Last Tycoon, which stars Kelsey Grammer (Fraiser), Matt Bomer  (White Collar), and Lily Collins (The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones). Per Amazon's press release, the series is "an adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s last work, [and] follows Hollywood’s Golden Boy, Monroe Stahr (Bomer) as he battles father figure and boss, Pat Brady (Grammer) for the soul of their studio. In a world darkened by the Great Depression and the growing international influence of Hitler’s Germany, The Last Tycoon illuminates the passions, violence, and towering ambition of 1930’s Hollywood." These two shows and and a variety of children's programming will begin streaming their pilots on June 17 on Amazon Video in the U.S., U.K., Germany, Austria, and Japan.
