Turn off the Lights

Amy Adams is Lois Lane in Zack Snyder’s “Superman”

That's timing for you. Shortly after news broke that his most recent film, Sucker Punch, got handed its walking papers by Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Roderick Rules, Zack Snyder has announced that his "Superman" film has found its Lois Lane in Amy Adams (The Fighter).

In an interview with the L.A. Times, Snyder says, “There was a big, giant search for Lois...for us it was a big thing and obviously a really important role. We did a lot of auditioning but we had this meeting with Amy Adams and after that I just felt she was perfect for it.” Snyder is directing the reboot, with Christopher Nolan (Inception, The Dark Knight) acting as an executive producer.

Adams has to be feeling pretty good right about now. Going from being a Hooters girl to a three-time Academy Award nominated actress is good enough. Landing one of the most recognized leading ladies in the history of pop culture—a role previously played by Margot Kidder, Kate Bosworth (in the films), Terri Hatcher and Erica Duance (on TV) not to mention a few others—has to feel even better. If her work in The Fighter is any indication, she can definitely play the "Take No Crap From Anyone" card, a vital characteristic for Superman's long time love and ally.

Adams joins a cast that includes Henry Cavill as Superman, Diane Lane as Martha Kent and Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent. The film is currently set for release sometime in late 2012.
