Aronofsky’s Noah to be Released as Graphic Novel

On March 28th of this year, Noah, the newest film by Darren Aronofsky, will hit theaters. Ten days before the star-studded blockbuster is released, however, Image Comics will be releasing a graphic novel of the same name written by Aronofsky and Ari Handel, and illustrated by Niko Henrichon. Eager to add a new perspective to the timeless tale, the Academy-Award-and Golden-Globe-nominated writer and director Darren Aronofsky based the graphic novel off of the first draft of his screenplay of the upcoming film. Hoping to add a human element to the larger than life story, the famed director will also be drawing on myth and history in his attempt at adding a fresh voice to the enduring fable.

The novel itself is far from an afterthought, boasting a star creative team of its own. Niko Henrichon’s artwork is lauded among the comic book industry’s titans. Having done the illustrations for Brian K. Vaughan’s Pride of Baghdad, Vaughan said of Henrichon, “[he] is one of the greatest living artists of graphic novels, and a book from him of this scope is a once-in-a-decade-experience.” Slated for release on March 18th, the 256-page graphic novel will come in two editions. One will be a hardcover volume with a cover by Henrichon. The other will be an oversized limited deluxe edition, signed and numbered by the creators. The deluxe edition will be limited to 300 copies, so collectors are encouraged to place their orders now.
