Turn off the Lights

Batgirl #11 Review

Batgirl is one of my favorite series from the New 52. Gail Simone knows this character very well, and that has been proven time and time again in this series. With every issue that you read you want more.

The cover is the best I have seen for the series so far. It was very similar to the covers for the last Batgirl series with Stephanie Brown, which were personally my favorite covers in a comic book series.

In this issue, Batgirl fights a new villain named Knightfall. Batgirl can’t fight this new villain alone. So, a detective comes to try and save the day. But how is this detective connected to Knightfall?

There were a lot of great things in this issue. There is a great villain, new character, and more James Gordon Jr. We finally find out the identity of Knightfall, and how she is connected to the detective. Batgirl has no idea what motives the detective has for saving her, but she has her guard up. It is fun to see how everything connects toward the end.

The James Gordon Jr. story has been going on since issue 8, but it is very subtle. James Gordon Jr. has been seeing Barbara’s roommate, but what are his motives and when will we have a story arc with him? He is a big villain for the Bat family so he is going to have a big story arc for the New 52.

The cliffhanger in this issue doesn’t only change things for Batgirl, but changes things for the whole bat family. There is a mole in the bat family. To find out whom the mole is you are going to have to pick up this issue.

This is a great issue to pick up. If you haven’t been reading Batgirl pick up this issue and the issue before this that way you are not lost. There is a lot of story that you are not going to want to miss.
