Bioshock 2 Single-Player DLC coming August 3

Couldn’t get enough of Rapture in the Bioshock series?  Had your fill of multiplayer DLC?  Well, for five dollars you’ll soon be able to download a new set of Single-Player missions for Bioshock 2.   The “Protector Trials” task the Player with defending a little sister from an army of Splicers on six new maps based on locations from the game.  It’s reminiscent of the Horde/ Firefight Mode that has become obligatory for shooters recently.

At this point it isn’t clear whether the player will be controlling Delta, the protagonist from the main game, or if the Big Daddy in question is a new character.  The trailer has narration from Dr. Brigid Tenenbaum, which indicates that the Protector Trials may flesh out some of the subplots in the game, including what happened to Tenenbaum after her brief appearance and cryptic parting words of “There are others I must help before the city drowns”.

Achievement hunters will have seven new Achievements/ Trophies to unlock, along with concept art and videos.  The Protector Trials will be available on August 3rd for XBox 360, Playstation 3 and PC at a price of $4.99 or 400 Microsoft points.  Player Affinity will have a full review next week.
