Since his breakout in 2009 with the hit comedy The Hangover, Bradley Cooper has risen to the A-list and he’s consequently had the opportunity for bigger film roles. Among many rumored leading roles, he was attached to head a remake of 1994’s cult classic The Crow.
Well, that’s not the case anymore, as Cooper has left the project. The Hollywood Reporter relays that a scheduling conflict arose from having to film Silver Linings Playbook from David O. Russell and Paradise Lost from original The Crow director Alex Proyas back to back. Relativity wants director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later) to begin work on The Crow right about when Paradise Lost will film.
However, two names have already been announced as contenders for the part infamously played by deceased actor Brandon Lee (son of Bruce Lee): Channing Tatum and Mark Wahlberg. Nothing’s final just yet, so others might join the casting fray, but Wahlberg was offered the role last year and nothing came of it. He also just signed on for action flick 2 Guns last week.
Would Tatum or Wahlberg be better fits for the leading role than Cooper, or is this remake destined to eat crow’s pie regardless of who plays Eric Draven?
