Bruce Willis Negotiating for Role in ‘G.I. Joe’ Sequel

Though he first earned acclaim from the television series Moonlighting, Bruce Willis has become an action star thanks to films like Armageddon and the “Die Hard” franchise. He just starred in the action-comedies Cop Out and Red, but he’s looking to return to straightforward action with an already popular franchise.

Willis is currently negotiating to star in Jon M. Chu’s G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation, sequel to the 2009 blockbuster G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, according to The Hollywood Reporter. If the negotiations go as planned, he’ll step into the role of “original Joe” General Joe Colton, the character who set up “the G.I. Joe strike team” in the comic books.

“Retaliation” hits theaters on June 29, 2012, and filming is set to begin before the end of the month.
