Capcom Clarifies Resident Evil Rumors, Gives Details on New Title

Earlier this week we reported on a story from Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu that Capcom was working on enhanced versions of both Resident Evil: Code Veronica and Resident Evil 4 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Capcom has come out and released official details, saying that they will not only be released separately, but will be downloadable titles through Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network, and will include the extra content that was once exclusive to their PlayStation 2 releases.

If that wasn’t enough, in this month's Official Xbox Magazine, Capcom finally revealed information on the latest console-bound Resident Evil title from former SOCOM developer Slant Six called Resident Evil: Raccoon City.

The game takes place during the Raccoon City T-Virus outbreak, but instead of a reboot or remake where you’re still playing on the side of the good guys, you’ll actually be part of a four-person team from Umbrella Security Services Squad, destroying evidence of the outbreak, which includes any survivors.

This year marks the 15th anniversary of the original release of Resident Evil, so a trip back to Raccoon City and a fresh coat of paint on its most celebrated title seems like a decent way to mark the occasion.
