Catwoman Needs an Online Pass

Nope, the title of this news isn't meant to confuse you. Catwoman does indeed require an online pass to be unlocked in Batman: Arkham City.

While online passes are hardly a new thing; EA has been doing them for years now, and every other publisher under the sun seems to be following in their footsteps, includes Warner Bros.  For those of you who have pre-purchased or are planning to buy Batman: Arkham City new, this news is of little concern to you, but anyone who wishes to wait for a used copy of the game should understand that the feline felon's segments will be inaccessible to anyone without an online pass.

We all know what an online pass is by now I would assume, a long code you enter when you play your game for the first time or try to access a special feature.  All new copies will come with the code for free, naturally, but if you y a used copy and wish to unlock Catwoman's segments, you will also need to buy a code separately for ten dollars.

Batman Arkham City is out on the 18th of October on PS3 and 360. The PC version still doesn't have a concrete date. Some retailers say the 15th of November, and others say the 11th. Still no word yet on why it was delayed.

I've ranted across many a forum about this topic and it still really annoys me.  Jim Sterling of Destructoid.com has been particularly vocal about his disgust with these practices in past weeks and I couldn't agree with him more.  We'd like for you to share your opinions on the subject, so feel free to sound off in the comments below.
