Comedian Tig Notaro Will Have a Documentary on Showtime

Showtime has greenlit a new and relatively unusual type of documentary starring Tig Notaro. She is a standup comedian on a quest to find her most loyal fans with the plan to play in their backyards and on their rooftops on a fun summer tour. This new special, which will feature Notaro traveling across the country as she gives private performances, is currently under the working title of “Knock Knock, It’s Tig Notaro.” These performances will also feature cameos from her funny and famous friends.

Recently, Notaro kicked off a nationwide search for fans who would be interested in hosting these types of concerts in order to be involved with the film. The application will be similar to a job application and features a short bio and leading questions that will help her get to know the interested fans. Fans can apply to be involved by going here.

Last year, she experienced a series of health issues and personal tragedies that would derail the careers of most people. Instead, she chose to be brave and got on stage just days after her cancer diagnosis. Her second comedy album, “Live,” sold over 100,00 copies in just six weeks. In addition to producing her documentary, she is set to appear in the upcoming films Walk of Shame and In a World.
