Crysis 2 Delayed

Crysis 2 has had its vague release date of “Fall 2010” pushed back to Q1 2011, Electronic Arts have confirmed. The game, sequel to 2007's PC exclusive Crysis, is in development by Crytek for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

The original Crysis, also developed by Crytek and published by EA, is infamous for its steep hardware requirements, but legendary for the consequentially stunning results – a genuine killer app.

When Crysis 2 was announced as a multi-platform release, PC gamers everywhere were apprehensive that the games console brothers would hold back development of the PC version. Crytek have repeatedly assured fans that the multi-platform development would not impact the quality of the game.

Hopefully, it won't emerge that there have been development problems; more than likely EA are taking a tactical approach and avoiding the already shooter heavy holiday period. Probably a wise move, since otherwise Crysis 2 will have had to go head to head with Call of Duty: Black Ops. Last year, many games release dates were moved in order to avoid competition with Activision's behemoth Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, including Mass Effect 2, which was moved to January of this year.

More bad news for PC gamers, but hopefully it just means more waiting, and isn't indicative of development problems.
