Evolve: What We Know So Far

In the midst of 2013, 2K Games paid a whopping $10.8 million for the game Evolve which was purchased from the doomed THQ games auction. Well today I'm going to look at the game to see what we know so far including the partnership with Turtle Rock Studios.
So what is this "Evolve" we speak of? Well, it is an upcoming sci-fi themed, co-operative first person shooter that's being developed by Turtle Rock Studios. The game was first revealed in December 2012 during the bankruptcy filing of former publisher THQ and it will now be published by 2K Games. Though the game has no confirmed release date it is expected to be released for the PC, Xbox One, and the Playstation 4 in the third quarter of 2014.

So Turtle Rock you say? Yeah? You recognise that name then...Well, they're the guys that famously worked on the Left For Dead series of games and indeed have a glowing reputation in the field so you know the Evolve game is going to be in capable hands. After years of working on Valve's Counter-Strike series, the California-based developer created Left 4 Dead, a post-apocalyptic shooter that boasts an amazing multiplayer experience for any players and indeed is an exceptional game in its own right. I've spent many evenings with friends smashing through Left 4 Dead and absolutely love the game and the tactics and fun banter that it brings! Well, the studio is combining its competitive and cooperative design expertise for their new, next-gen game which we now know as Evolve.

The sci-fi multiplayer-focused shooter puts a four-player crew of alien hunters against a separate AI monster that grows larger and more powerful over the course of matches. Each hunter has its own unique items and abilities, and while the monster may be outnumbered, its size and an array of devastating attacks make it a tricky enemy to defeat. Evolve is being built with a huge variety and replayabilty in mind so that you and your group of friends can relive the experiences again and again and try and improve on your scores which is very much in the vein of Left 4 Dead.
