Fallout 4’s “Automatron” DLC to Release March 22

"DIY killer robots are coming to the Commonwealth"
Bethesda hasn't said much about their upcoming Fallout 4 DLC, aside from giving some names and saying that it was coming. Now we have more details, and just as with the original game's release, there isn't much time between the announcement of the details and the actual release; the first set of DLC, Automatron, is coming for all platforms on March 22. Check out the official trailer below. Robots are involved. The DLC centers around a new villain, the Mechanist, who unleashes killer robots on the Commonwealth. To combat this, you can build your own robots to fight back, and customization options appear fairly robust (provided your character is at least level 15). Bethesda says players can "choose from hundreds of mods; mixing limbs, armor, abilities, and weapons such as the all-new lightning chain gun." This is not the first appearance of the Mechanist in the Fallout universe. In Fallout 3, the Mechanist was the superhero alias of Scott "Bean" Wollinski, whose ongoing feud with the AntAngonizer was the focus of the quest "The Superhuman Gambit." Both the Mechanist and the AntAgonizer are listed as nemeses in the Silver Shroud Radio in Fallout 4, as well, but this would be the first time players actually interact with the Mechanist personally. In the first two series references to the character, unveiling the villain's true identity was a major part of the story, and this is the first time the Mechanist has taken on such a central role in the story, so it should be interesting to see how the story plays out. Story aside, building combat robots and unlocking the five new achievements/trophies in the game will be the main draws for most players. Three of those achievements are linked to completing the story missions, while the other two are linked to unlocking and building robot mods. Automatron is included in the $50 Fallout 4 Season Pass, though it will also be available as a standalone for $10.
