Famitsu Unveils Rune Factory Oceans

A leaked Famitsu Magazine screenshot shows a new Rune Factory game for the Wii and Playstation 3. The only information at this time is its title: Rune Factory Oceans. We will bring you more information as it becomes available.Oceans... As far as the eye can see....
The Rune Factory series started on the Nintendo DS in 2007. Published by Natsume, Rune Factory took the farm work of Harvest Moon and introduced combat to the mix. A great feature about the game was the amount of variety. If you were not into farming, you could go mining and dungeon crawling or vice-versa.  In Rune Factory, you played as Raguna, a mysterious boy who has lost his memory. He collapses right in front of the house of a young girl named Mist. She offers you her old farm that she no longer uses; as long as you run the farm. You encounter a monster and defeat it with your hoe and Mist explains that monsters have been appearing everywhere lately.

Rune Factory was a sleeper hit, clocking in at 420,000 copies sold. The sequel, Rune Factory 2, hit the market at the end of 2008. Rune Factory Frontier was released in 2009 for the Nintendo Wii. With beautiful graphics and excellent voice acting, Rune Factory Frontier became yet another sleeper hit. The game had waggle controls for weapons and hoes, but they did you the option of Classic Controller support which worked very well. Rune Factory 3 will hit the Nintendo DS next month in North America, will this game succeed or will it bomb at retail? Only time will tell...

With a new Rune Factory on the horizon, what changes could they make to the series? Are you a fan of the series? Have any ideas for control methods? Let us know in the comment box below!
