First Images From Upcoming Poltergeist Reboot Unveiled

"They're here..."
This Summer's upcoming Poltergeist reboot (planned for a July 24, 2015 release) has finally got some creepy new stills, courtesy of USA Today, showing off a few mysterious shots from the upcoming remake. The film, like the original, tells the tale of a family that moves into a new house with "bad spiritual juju," eventually causing them to bring in a few experts to help sort out the issue. [gallery ids="67009,67012,67011"] Monster House director Gil Kenan, who helms the project, notes the automatic fan response to questioning the idea of a remake of such a classic staple of horror, but hopes his new movie "lives up to the original's legacy." He also addresses concerns over the film's horror content, which as of late had skewed more family friendly according to a few rumors.
“The thing that keeps them a family is what they have to draw on, to stay sane, and also to win Madison back,”says Kenan. “The film is super-scary. And it’s scary on its own terms. I am excited to finally be able to share that with the world.”
[gallery ids="67010,67013,67014"] Sam Raimi, producer on the movie, also brought up an interesting angle the reboot will take in dealing with the classic haunted television set.
“The original film commented on how we’ve  let television get out of control, babysitting our kids,”says Raimi. “It’s only gotten worse with the handheld portable devices. Screens are everywhere.”
The pictures, which mostly focus on eight-year-old Kennedi Clements as Madison, are acting as a sort of tease to drum up excitement for the imminent trailer release sometime on Thursday.
