First Look Of Gordon-Levitt In ‘Snowden’

Actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been building an impressive resume of performances over the past decade in movies such as, Looper50/50, and 500 Days of Summer. Recently, he made his writing/directing debut for the well-received drama Don Jon, which he also starred in, alongside Scarlett Johanson. Now, Gordon-Levitt is tackling one of his most challenging roles in the upcoming thriller, Snowden. According to Variety, Open Road Films has released the first photo of Gordon-Levitt as Edward Snowden in Oliver Stone's latest movie.

In the first look image above, before he was a whistle-blower, Edward was an ordinary man who unquestioningly served his country.

Gordon-Levitt co-stars with Shailene Woodley, Melissa Leo, Zachary Quinto, Tom Wilkinson, Timothy Olyphant, Rhys Ifans and Joely Richardson.

The movie is currently shooting in Munich, before moving on to locations around the world.​ Snowden release date in the U.S. on December 25, 2015.

Last month, Laura Poitras’ Snowden documentary Citizenfour won Best Documentary at the Academy Awards.

Gordon-Levitt has another true life role this fall as French high-wire artist Philippe Petit, in Robert Zemeckis' drama The Wire, arriving in theaters October 2, 2015.

The handsome actor has an impressive one-two punch of high-profile projects for the last half of the year that will surely garner him some serious awards buzz. This could lead to Gordon-Levitt finally landing his first Oscar nomination, but we shall see for which movie.
