In case you were lamenting the lack of Ryan Murphy-produced anthology series on FX, have I got some good news for you! FX has ordered an eight-episode first season for the latest Murphy anthology series, Feud. The series will join American Horror Story, which will be back this fall for its sixth season, and American Crime Story, which will be back next year for its second season, as part of the Ryan Murphy anthology line-up on the cable network.
According to Deadline, the first season of Feud will focus on the legendary rivalry between Hollywood stars Joan Crawford (Jessica Lange, a veteran of American Horror Story‘s first four seasons) and Bette Davis (Susan Sarandon). The series will take place during the filming of the 1962 film Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? Joining Oscar winners Lange and Sarandon will be Alfred Molina (as the film’s director, Robert Aldrich), Stanley Tucci (as studio head Jack Warner), Judy Davis (as gossip writier Hedda Hopper), and Dominic Burgess (as the film’s co-star, Victor Buono), keeping up the tradition of Murphy landing big name stars for his shows.
Production on the series will begin this fall, with an expected 2017 premiere. Subsequent seasons will focus on other famous feuds throughout history. A suggestion for season two: Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr. I hear they are super hot right now.
