Ready for more Gears of War? Epic Games announced the fourth installment in the franchise, Gears of War: Judgment, during Microsoft’s press conference at E3 2012.
The plot of the game takes the player back to where it all began: Emergence Day, the day when the enemy Locust first “emerged” out of the ground and turned the entire planet of Sera into a warzone. Judgment will focus on Damon Baird and Augustus Cole, who are leading a group of soldiers known as the Kilo Squad.
The minute-long trailer that Epic revealed shows Sera in flames, along with Baird and company blasting away with the traditional Lancer assault rifle.
New in Judgment is the “Smart Spawn System”, a new system that spawns enemies at different locations and times, making each encounter unique.
Like the previous Gears games, multiplayer co-op through the campaign will be available. New multiplayer modes will also be offered: OverRun will pit five-player teams, either Locust or COG, in an objective-oriented battle. Other modes have yet to be announced.
