Hackers Take Down PlayStation Network & Send Bomb Threat (Update)

Update: At 8:14 PM CST the PlayStation Support twitter account, @AskPlayStation has tweeted the service is coming back online. But they warned it might take some time.
The PlayStation Network is currently experiencing some issues and is down for most users. PSN Users are having trouble logging in, accessing the store and playing games online.

The DDOS attack seems to have been committed by a group calling themselves "Lizard Squad." The group claims responsibility for the PlayStation Network being down, and also was behind the issues that Blizzard and League of Legends were having earlier today.
Sony has responded on their blog with a statement. They explained that they did suffer a DDOS attack. But that no personal information had been accessed.
Like other major networks around the world, the PlayStation Network and Sony Entertainment Network have been impacted by an attempt to overwhelm our network with artificially high traffic.
Although this has impacted your ability to access our network and enjoy our services, no personal information has been accessed.
We will continue to work towards fixing this issue and hope to have our services up and running as soon as possible.
We regret any inconvenience this may have caused.

The Official PlayStation Twitter account also commented on the current issues affecting the PlayStation Network via a tweet. They assure users they are aware of the issues and are working to fix them.

No ETA was given on when the PlayStation Network will be back up and running, also no word if this hack will affect the scheduled maintenance that was supposed to happen on August 25th.
As well as attacking the PlayStation Network the group also issued a bomb threat to a American Airlines flight. On the flight was the Sony Online Entertainment President Smedley. His flight was diverted after the bomb threat was sent. There was no bomb found and Sony Online Entertainment representative issued a statement to Shacknews.
"I can confirm that at this time the FBI is handling this directly." The rep added that no specifics could be offered, as this has now become a matter of national security.

The situation is still developing and we will have to wait to see when the PlayStation Network servers are restored.
