HBO Cancels Vinyl

Despite getting the green light for season two, HBO cancels Vinyl. Vinyl followed the story of Bobby Cannavale, a record executive in the 1970s. It received mixed reviews despite having executive producers Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger leading the way. The show also starred Ray Romano, Olivia Wilde, and Juno Temple. After the first season didn't land with viewers, HBO announced that some big changes would be coming with the second season. The network replaced creator Terence Winter with Scott Z. Burns. bobby_cannavale HBO decided ultimately to cancel the show altogether, which reflects their programming revamp for the upcoming fall season. This was partially set into motion after HBO’s programming president stepped down and was replaced by Casey Bloys, HBO’s former head of comedy. According to Variety, Vinyl is one of the most high-profile cancellations in HBO history, as HBO rarely cancels shows after a single season, especially when they come from high profile producers. Other shows on this list include Luck, Tell Me You Love Me and John from Cincinnati. Viewers will have to tune in this fall to check out HBO’s new schedule and see how to holds up to past programming. New shows include Divorce, Big Little Lies, The Deuce and Westworld.
