IDW to Publish In The Dark

Yet another project spawned on Kickstarter has developed into something greater than anticipated. IDW Publishing has picked up In The Dark, a horror anthology featuring some of the industry’s most acclaimed writers and artists. This must-own volume will contain 20 brand new and completely original stories that will make your hair stand on end. Rachel Deering, writer of the self-described “lesbian werewolf epic,” Anathema, is the mastermind behind this project. Beginning as a Kickstarter last year, In The Dark effectively doubled the intended target goal. She is also in charge of editing and assembling the final project, which will be massive. The anthology will contain stories by, among others, Justin Jordan (Dead Body Road), Cullen Bunn (Venom), Steve Niles (Ash and the Army of Darkness, 30 Days of Night), Duane Swierczynski (Cable), Tom Taylor (Injustice: Gods Among Us), Tim Seeley (Hack/Slash), Brian Keene (The Last Zombie), F. Paul Wilson (The Keep), Ed Brisson (Prophet), Marguerite Bennett (Batgirl), Valerie D’Orazio (Magnus Robot Fighter), Paul Tobin (Marvel Adventures), and James Tynion IV (Batman: The New 52). Among the confirmed artists are Nate Powell (Sweet Tooth), Tradd Moore (The Strange Talent of Luther Strode), Damien Worm (Monster & Madman), Tyler Jenkins (Peter Panzerfaust), Drew Moss (The Colonized), and Andy Belanger (Kill Shakespeare).

About the project, Rachel Deering had this to say: “This book is the 8-year-old Rachel’s dream come true… I wanted to give this generation a chance to feel that macabre magic that held me spellbound when I picked up my first horror anthology comic, and I can only hope it serves to scare the crap outta readers, young and old, for years to come.” The 250-plus-page hardcover anthology will contain a bit by Mike Howlett, comic book historian, regarding the rich history of horror comics, and will include an introduction by New York Times Bestselling author Scott Snyder. In The Dark will be released this upcoming April, so reserve your copy now!
