IDW Unleashes Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Game Kickstarter

IDW Publishing is launching a fun new way to experience one of their biggest properties, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. IDW Games has gone to Kickstarter to fund the board game Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shadows of the Past, a game designed by Kevin Wilson. In particular, TMNT: Shadows of the Past will be a "scenario-driven, miniatures-based combat board game." The game will include content from the current Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic book from IDW.   Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game   Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shadows of the Past is a game for two to five players to make their way through a number of 60-90 minutes missions, gaining character traits, fighting acumen and important equipment. The game is certain to have many beloved characters, allies and foes from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles canon and the IDW comic book.   Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman has said, “It’s almost like having a month long convention celebrating all things Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. We’ll be able to show off all kinds of aspects of this awesome game and the IDW comic universe it comes from." IDW's Vice President of New Product Development Jerry Bennington added, “This campaign will allow us to interact with fans and give them a strong idea of what they’ll be getting in this game… and with the help of the fans, we’ll upgrade the game and add even more content to it, leveraging our talented staff and even some creators from the past that may surprise you.”   Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game Leonardo   Although it is not a big part of comic books now, board games have a long history with comics. Prior to advanced video games, board games were the best interactive way to play along with Marvel, DC and other characters, with comic-related board games reaching a peak in the late 1970s and 1980s. Board games have made a comeback in the 21st Century and having some board games connected to comics seems like a great way to spent time with friends or meet other geeks.   Teenage Mutant Ninja Teenage game $150 pack   The Kickstarter goal of $250,000 has already been met with still 16 days to go. The total as of this writing is at over $397,000. Backers have the choice of two different versions of the game. There are numerous reward categories, including the April O’Neil Hero pack.
