Injustice 2 Officially Announced

"NetherRealm's next fighting game finally official after numerous rumors and leaks"
injustice-2-trailer-slice-600x200 NetherRealm's Ed Boon first tweeted out his profile image changed to the roman numeral two. Then more rumors started swirling in last week. Lastly GameStop leaked the poster for this awaited sequel, but today it is now official. Injustice 2 is NetherRealm's next fighting game slated for a 2017 release (likely April again) and the announcement trailer can be seen below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hX0WA6yIZ7I The big feature Injustice 2 is pushing is it's Gear system that involves loot drops, which seems to be a first for a fighting game. These loot drops contain gear that can change a DC character's look and playstyle on the fly. In the trailer above, we see Batman changing his suit to have kryptonic arms for example. NetherRealm is hoping every player will have their own style of a character in matches. This is shaping to be the next step for the developer's signature gameplay mechanics from the first Injustice's trait system and Mortal Kombat X's variations, but I'm curious to see how this will play out in tournaments. The roster so far is Superman, Supergirl, The Flash, Batman, Aquaman, Gorilla Grood and Atrocitus. No story details have been revealed, but expect to hear in the coming months. Gameplay will also be shown at E3 next week. The big gameplay hook has me intrigued and I'm looking forward to hearing more about this sequel. Mortal Kombat X is still going strong among the fighting game community with tournaments and the ESL Pro League, but I'm expecting the same for Injustice 2 next year. Injustice 2 comes out in 2017 for the Playstation 4 and Xbox One. I'm not surprised there is no PC version announced considering how Mortal Kombat X panned out there.
