Jake Lacy Cast in Showtime’s ‘I’m Dying Up Here’

Jake Lacy (Girls, Obvious Child) is headed to Showtime as a series regular on Showtime’s new hourlong comedy, I’m Dying Up Here. This new comedy will be executive produced by Jim Carrey, and follow the lives of comedians in the 1970s in LA. Oscar nominee Melissa Leo will be leading the show's cast, playing a comedy club owner by the name of Goldie, a business woman who serves up some tough love to the comedians who perform at her club, according to Deadline. Now, he’s trying to come back from that by using his history of substance abuse and family drama to create a new act, but not everyone is excited to see him. The show will also star Ari Graynor, Andrew Santino, RJ Cyler, Al Madrigal, Erik Griffin, and Stephen Guarino as stand-up comedians that frequently take the stage at the club. There is also a long list of guest stars set to appear, including Alfred Molina, Sebastian Stan, Robert Forster, Jon Daly, Dylan Baker, Brianne Howey, Ginger Gonzaga, and Cathy Moriarty. The show is based on a non-fiction novel of the same name written by William Knoedelseder and will start filming this fall in LA. (Featured image via Getty Images)
