John Logan to Write Next Two Bond Movies

Skyfall is now out in the UK and has earned nearly universal praise from British critics. With this impending success, producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson have hired Skyfall writer John Logan to write not just the next Bond movie, but two of them.

Deadline has reports the news as well as the interesting tidbit that the next two Bonds will have an overarching plot/interlinking storyline. Daniel Craig is already signed up to star in two more Bond movies, so the continuity is there.

Logan pitched the idea to Broccoli and Wilson during the shooting of Skyfall and he is already in the writing process. In fact, “Bond 24” is currently eyeing a Fall 2014 release date.

This would not be the first time a Bond movie would have a direct sequel, but it would be a first in terms of two films capturing one story. What it will entail we don't know, but from a pure fan speculation perspective, it could involve the re-introduction of Tracy di Vicenzo, the only Bond girl to marry Bond, or something of that nature.

Logan has been nominated for three Academy Awards for his screenplays for Gladiator, The Aviator and Hugo. He is also known for writing screenplays for The Last Samurai, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and Rango.

Skyfall is set to hit North American theaters on Nov. 9.
