Key, Smulders, Savage Headline New Netflix Comedy

Would you watch a show with a cast that includes Keegan-Michael Key, Cobie Smulders, and Fred Savage? Netflix certainly hopes you will. The streaming media giant placed an eight-episode order for Friends From College, a new comedy series from director/screenwriter Nick Stoller and Francesca Delbanco. Rounding out the Friends From College cast will be Annie Parisse (Law & Order), Nat Faxon (Married), and Jae Suh Park (The Big Short). smulders-key-savage-friends-from-college As its title suggests, Friends From College will focus on a group of friends who went to Harvard together and are confronting their forties with various levels of professional and domestic success. According to Netflix, the series can best be described as a “comedic exploration of old friendships, former romantic entanglements and balancing adult life with nostalgia for the past.” The subject matter should be familiar to Stoller and Delblanco, a husband-and-wife writing team who first met as Harvard students. Stoller and Delblanco will write and exec produce Friends From College, while Stoller will direct all eight episodes. Production for the series is slated to begin in New York this fall.
