Kinect Star Wars Pushed Back to 2012

Microsoft has confirmed that Kinect Star Wars, along with the Star Wars-themed Xbox 360 console, will not meet its previously announced launch date of holiday 2011.

A Microsoft spokesperson told OXM (Official Xbox Magazine) that "Microsoft and LucasArts have elected to move the launch of Kinect Star Wars beyond holiday 2011 to ensure the full potential of this title is realized…This move applies to both the Kinect Star Wars stand-alone game and the Kinect Star Wars Limited Edition Console. We will communicate additional timing information at a later date."

The delay is necessary to fix the bugs that some testers encountered, such as the game’s failure to recognize a user’s movements.  Being developed by Terminal Reality, Kinect Star Wars will allow players to imitate the abilities of a Jedi in front of their television screen.  The game will take place during the timeline of the Star Wars prequel films, while also includes settings from the original trilogy.

The limited edition Xbox 360 console that is scheduled to release with the game will replicate the look of R2-D2, and the controller will be themed to C-3PO.  The bundle is planned to cost $449.99, and will include the console, controller, a white Kinect, and a copy of Kinect Star Wars.
