Luke Cage Trailer Debuts

Netflix is ready to let the latest Marvel superhero out of its Cage. Luke Cage, that is. Fresh from his featured role in Jessica Jones, Luke Cage (Mike Colter) will star in his own Netflix series that will begin streaming on September 30. The series follows the titular hero to Harlem as he defends the neighborhood from Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes (Mahershala Ali). luke-cage-series-netflix-logo Luke Cage was created by Archie Goodwin and John Romita Sr. in 1972 to capitalize on the then-nascent Blaxploitation craze. The character gained his super strength and impervious skin as a result of a prison experiment (an incident referenced in the trailer below). As a result, Luke becomes a Hero for Hire who later forms a partnership with Iron Fist—a character who, not so coincidentally, will also be the subject of his own Netflix series. The impressive cast list for Luke Cage includes Alfre Woodard, Simone Missick, Theo Rossi, Frank Whaley, and Rosario Dawson, reprising the role of Claire Temple. You can catch a sneak peek below of what Luke Cage has to offer when it debuts on Netflix on September 30. [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ytkjQvSk2VA[/embed]
