Weeds star Mary-Louise Parker is in final negotiations to join the cast of R.I.P.D. Should she join, she will work alongside stars Ryan Reynolds, Jeff Bridges and Kevin Bacon as well as work with her RED director Robert Schentke once more.
The film will be based on the comic by Peter Lenkov, telling the story of Officer Nick Cruz (Reynolds) who is shot and killed in the line of duty. Upon crossing over, he learns of a law enforcement agency, the Rest In Peace Department (R.I.P.D.), tasked with their own laws to enforce on Earth from the afterlife.
Variety reports that Parker would play an integral part in Reynold’s joining the R.I.P.D.; her division being the one to help souls better understand their passing after death. The film is scheduled for release on June 28, 2013.
