Matthew Fox and Ed Harris Now Out of ‘World War Z’

Over the past few weeks, casting news with regards to next summer's anticipated World War Z starring Brad Pitt has begun to pick up. We previously heard that Matthew Fox and Ed Harris were negotiating for roles in the Zombie flick, but now it seems they won't be. Vulture reports both actors have now left the project.

Fox has left due to his commitments to make I, Alex Cross, an adaptation of a James Patterson crime novel set to star Tyler Perry, later this summer. Harris is set to star in the Pulitzer-winning play The Jacksonian at L.A.’s Geffen Playhouse, but that is not due to start until February 2012, so there's no certainty as to why he will not star in the film.

Production on World War Z has already started in Malta and recasting has urgently begun in London and Los Angeles. But before you get too worried, Marc Forster is known for getting excellent performances from his actors and last-minute casting has sometimes worked wonders; Viggo Mortensen as Aragon in The Lord of the Rings, being a notable example.
