Merry Christmas From Bioware: Star Wars The Old Republic Coming End of December

Throw out that Christmas list and just tell your loved ones to give you food, water and coffee for Christmas, because when the rest of the family is unwrapping their presents, you'll be in your 120th hour of a non-stop Star Wars The Old Republic play session, because SWTOR has been officially dated for December 20th.

Unveiled this morning during the keynote address at the Eurogamer Expo, this announcement assuaged fears that the WoW killer MMO from Bioware might not show in 2011:

Ray Muzyka, one of Bioware's Co-Founders announced “In 1977, Lucasfilm created magic with the release of Star Wars. Our goal is to capture some of that magic when we go live with Star Wars: The Old Republic on December 20.  This is an incredible moment for everyone at BioWare and our partners at Lucas Arts who have dedicated so much of their lives to building this extraordinary game.”

If you just can't wait until December 20th, you can get access to the game earlier if you pre-order, but be warned that EA's digital service is charging an additional five dollar "Re-order fee" for the digital versions of the game, and that physical copies will be limited, purportedly in order to prevent server overload at launch.
Bioware's other Co-Founder Greg Zeschuk added, “We appreciate the patience of the millions of fans who have been waiting for the game’s release. When we launch this groundbreaking MMO with world class storytelling this holiday season, we hope you will agree that it was worth the wait.”
