Meta Knight Returns to Super Smash Bros.

"Also, Europe gets a LE 3DS XL and Classic Mode detailed"
The Super Smash Bros. website had a nice little surprise this Wednesday morning when Sakurai unveiled the return of Meta Knight for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS.

Meta Knight is the antihero from the Kirby series who is known for dueling with Kirby in many games, though he has been popular enough to become playable in some of the games such as Kirby’s Return to Dream Land and Kirby Triple Deluxe.
He debuted in Super Smash Bros. Brawl where he became an infamously broken character to the point that he was banned from many tournaments. Sakurai mentions in his Miiverse posts today that his Shuttle Loop attack (Up+B) was edited, and that he no longer glides after the attack and he will attack players twice with it.

Also shown off today was a limited edition 3DS XL for Super Smash Bros. for 3DS. This red system for Europe has all the characters from the boxart of the 3DS version all in a black and white, hand-drawn look. It includes the game and will launch alongside it on October 3rd. No word if North America or Japan will get this limited edition 3DS.

Lastly, the Classic mode was detailed in the 3DS version, and it seems to be more in-depth than any other previous Classic Mode. Normally you would just fight characters until Master Hand and progress linearly with some gimmicky fights or minigames sprinkled in between. In the 3DS game, there are branching pathways to choose from, and some can be that same sort of gimmick match, but beating it will net you some rewards like trophies, gold or custom parts.
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS will be out on October 3rd, and the Wii U version will be out later in the year.
