Microsoft Confirms Halo 4 Will be Released in Current Generation

Despite increasingly frequent rumors that the next Xbox will launch in 2012, Microsoft has confirmed that Halo 4 will launch as an Xbox 360 title. Halo 4 has been given a launch release window of Q4 2012, which is also the prominent rumor of the next Xbox’s release. This has led some to believe that Master Chief’s latest adventure will be a launch title for the next Xbox.

Frank O'Connor, Halo series director at developer 343 Industries, posted a response on message board NeoGAF under the username "OuterWorldVoice," and said that "Halo 4 will be on Xbox 360 and use a modified core of the Halo engine(s). Not really a singular engine since it goes through fairly radical evolutions all the time."

O’Connor’s message doesn’t specifically say that Halo 4 won’t be on the next Xbox, leading some to speculate that the game will launch on both consoles. Rumors are floating that Ubisoft and Electronic Arts are already developing games for the next-gen console, and that a late 2012 release is possible. A new Halo for the Xbox Next on its launch day would certainly do wonders for sales.  Read the post on NeoGaf.
