More Zombies on TV Next Year?

If you were among the 7.26 million viewers who tuned into AMC to watch the season premiere of The Walking Dead on October 16, you may have one more reason to rejoice or lament. Your attraction to that particular brand of the undead (as opposed to vampires, for example) might be even more satisfied come Fall 2012.

According to New York Magazine, Sony TV and Fox are in talks to develop a half-hour show from the 2009 movie Zombieland. If the deal goes through, the pilot will be penned by the original writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick and probably produced by Sony TV. Like the original feature film, the show will be a comedy, which will hopefully not be an issue for fans of The Walking Dead...

Starring Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Woody Harrelson, the movie earned $75.6 million in the U.S. and close to $27 million internationally. The story centered on "Columbus" (Jesse Eisenberg) who, two months after a mutated strain of mad cow disease has turned most humans into zombies, attempts to reach Ohio to check if his parents are still alive. On his way he meets several survivors, "Tallahassee" (Woody Harrelson), "Wichita" (Emma Stone) and of course a lot of zombies.
