Mortal Kombat to Disembowel Consoles April 2011

Fresh on the tail of the Spike VGAs, at which it was announced that Kratos would grace the PS3 edition of the new Mortal Kombat reboot, Warner Bros. Interactive has announced a release date for the brawler. Fighting fans can look forward to getting their hands on the newest game in the revered series on April 19, 2011. In addition to the release date reveal, several Kollector's Editions (see what they did there?) have been announced.

The standard Kollector's Edition will include Sub-Zero and Scorpion figurines, a collectible art book, and DLC for "Mortal Kombat Klassic costume skins," as well as avatar costumes. The release does not specify whether PS3 owners would received Playstation Home costumes to compensate for the 360's avatar costumes. The next edition, called the Tournament Edition, includes all of the above and an MK-branded fighting stick. If you are hoping to get in on the Tournament Edition, preorder fast, because it will be a limited run of only 20,000 copies.
