Rumor Has It: Is Gwyneth Paltrow Done with Marvel?
By: Julian Stark | Sep 16, 2012Welcome to Rumor Has It, Player Affinity’s roundup of huge movie rumors. On this week’s docket, we have rumors about the Avengers franchise and Ant-Man.
Will Gwyneth Paltrow return for The Avengers 2?
Gwyneth Paltrow’s career has been a rocky one despite an Oscar win for 1998’s Shakespeare in Love. Still, her work in the Iron Man films and a guest role on Glee put her back in the limelight, and she experienced a major comeback. But now, it seems that Paltrow might ditch Marvel. At the Toronto International Film Festival, she said the following about returning to The Avengers 2:
“I don't know. I'm getting old for this s--t, you know what I mean?”
E! debuted this interview response as an exclusive, but it's hard to infer her tone. Still, various news publications picked up the quote, and neither Paltrow nor Marvel has come out with a statement refuting its validity. Until anything’s confirmed, it’s worth keeping in mind.
Will we see Edgar Wright's Ant-Man test footage online?
Test footage from Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man premiered at Comic-Con this summer — that’s no secret — but Collider relays that this footage might soon appear online. Victoria Alonso, an exec at Marvel, told Omelete (via the source):
“What we showed at Comic-Con was a work in progress. We’re working on finishing it, and I think you might see it. Not sure where, but we always listen to the fans. And if the fans demand it we make sure they get it. I don’t know if we are going to post it online, but I don’t have [any reason] to believe we may not.”
Wright sits in the director’s chair currently for the comedy The World’s End, but he might take up Ant-Man shortly after his work there is done.
