MST3K Adds Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland As Guest Writers

Kickstarter is helping revive another cult classic TV show. This time, it's a show that hasn't had a new episode in 16 years, and one many 90's kids will remember. Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K) will have a new season out in 2016, thanks to a highly-successful Kickstarter campaign that has raised 4.3 million dollars pledged by 35,000 backers. On Wednesday, the original series' creator Joel Hodgson and the man behind the Kickstarter campaign, announced that Rick and Morty creators Dan Harmon (Community) and Justin Roiland (Gravity Falls, Adventure Time) will be guest writers for the new season of Mystery Science Theater 3000. Harmon and Roiland join a writing team that includes Dana Gould (The Simpsons), Ernie Cline (Ready Player One), Rob Schrab (The Lego Movie Sequel, Community), and Robert Lopez (Frozen). Lopez, the EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) winner who composed "Let It Go," will be creating the soundtrack for the new season of MST3K. In previous updates, it was announced that comedians and geek icons Jonah Ray, Patton Oswalt, and Felicia Day will be the stars of the new season of MST3K. Jonah Ray (@midnight, Chris Hardwick's All-Star Celebrity Bowling) will play the new host, Patton Oswalt (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Home Movies) will play TV's Son of TV's Frank, and Felicia Day (Supernatural, The Guild) will play the daughter of the original series' mad scientist Dr. Clayton Forrester. Friday is the final day of the Kickstarter campaign. If fans donate a little over a million dollars between now and Friday night, they'll get a grand total of 12 episodes instead of nine.
