Netflix Says ‘My Bad’ Again, Scraps Qwikster

Netflix CEO Reed Hastings has announced on the company blog that Netflix will retain the DVD-by-mail service under the original brand name and not launch the separate by-mail site Qwikster.

Hastings wrote, "It is clear that for many of our members, two websites would make things more difficult, so we are going to keep Netflix as one place to go for streaming and DVDs."

The short post also says the site is "now done with price changes."

The only question remaining is why the site seems to be so out of touch with its subscriber base that it could not figure out on its own that forcing streaming and DVD-by-mail into two separate accounts would make things more difficult. This only further proves the theory that the move was not driven by convenience, but by the hopes of phasing out DVD-by-mail entirely.

Netflix should simply focus on adding more streaming titles and leave everything else alone.
