Developed by Arrowhead Game Studios (Magicka/Showdown Effect) the game offers top down gameplay for up to four people and players can choose between Warrior, Wizard, Valkyrie, or Elf, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. Each dungeon will contain numerous traps, bonuses and unlockables, as well as an assortment of fantasy monsters such as ghosts, grunts, demons, spiders, sorcerers and skeleton warriors.
It kicks off the firm's WB Games Vault initiative, which sees paid versions of popular Warner and Midway franchises releasing direct-to-digital.
"With Gauntlet we combined the arcade style of the original game with an entirely new look and feature set that includes emergent, local and online four-player gameplay," explained Warner Bros' David Haddad.
The original Gauntlet game was released in 1985 on the Atari and became a huge hit in game arcades. It will be interesting to see how the remake pans out and from the looks of the trailer down below looks like it follows the vein of Diablo III.
