New PS3 Releases for the Week of 1/3/11

So, Sony finally rings in the new year with the first new PlayStation Network content for 2011. There are no full new store releases this week, but there are a couple of smaller games and demos which should be worth a look coming out on PSN.

The iconic TETRIS gets its first official PS3 incarnation and is still as addictive as ever, only now with enhanced crisp HD graphics and six different multiplayer modes. The NEOGEO Station bundle pack weighs in at a fairly heavy $79, but does give you ten of the best early NEOGEO games. Also, among the other content is a version of the hugely popular iPhone App Angry Birds, although unfortunately this version is a Mini not a HD remake.

Also, new to this section for 2011 will be a Pick Of The Week. It will feature one pick from the latest PlayStation Network content, and one pick from each weeks' new PS3 store releases.
Kicking us off for the first time will have to be the PSN version of TETRIS because of its timeless, completely addictive gameplay and excellent multiplayer.





Here is a rundown of the main new content out this week on the PlayStation Network: 

PSN Games

MicroBot ($9.99) - Travel through a human body as you track down the cause of an infection.

TETRIS ($9.99) – With HD graphics, 5.1 Surround Sound, 6 multiplayer modes, and 3 new game modes.

NEOGEO Station PS3 Bundle Pack ($79.99) – Includes ALPHA MISSION II, ART OF FIGHTING, BASEBALL STARS PROFESSIONAL, FATAL FURY, LEAGUE BOWLING, MAGICIAN LORD, METAL SLUG, SAMURAI SHODOWN, SUPER SIDEKICKS, and THE KING OF FIGHTERS ’94.

Ricochet HD ($7.99) – A Breakout style block action game that requires skill and strategy with 150 dynamic stages.

Angry Birds – minis ($3.99) - Get revenge on the pigs that stole the Angry Birds’ eggs in an addictive and unique puzzle game.
