Here we are again for another
week of new PlayStation releases. First off, unfortunately we missed last weeks
update, but the major new content that arrived on PSN included the PSone classic
Parasite Eve, and the PS3 games Slam Bolt Scrappers, Hard Corps: Uprising, and Prince of Persia. There were also a
couple of big new games in stores, notably the excellent FPS Homefront, Yakuza 4, and Top Spin 4.
This week is another big one
for new games. Arriving on the PSN are: Swarm,
which is an action-platformer; PlayStation
Move Heroes, which is a series of mini games for the Move; Battle: Los Angeles is the game of the
film; and Premier Manger is a soccer management
sim. The main new PSN game is probably Ghostbusters: Sanctum Of Slime, which is a fast-paced and colorful four-player arcade blaster based in the world of the popular films.
New PS3 games coming to
stores this week include Lego Star Wars III: The
Clone Wars, Tomb Raider Trilogy,
and Mayhem 3D. The biggest store
release this week though must be Crysis 2.
It’s a science fiction first-person shooter developed by Crytek,
and is the sequel to one of the most celebrated PC games of the last few years.
The game is built around the CryEngine
3 game engine, and as most FPS's this generation are based on the UnrealEngine, this gives Crysis 2 a unique and fresh look that really
makes it stand out in a crowded genre.
Game of the Week goes, unsurprisingly, to Crysis 2
this week. It may not be perfect but it has enough visual style and solid
gameplay to make it worth a look for anyone who likes science fiction, or who has
a taste for first-person shooters.
PS3 Store Releases: Crysis 2 — A devastated New
York fights an alien species in this highly
anticipated first-person shooter.
LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars —All the characters from both seasons of the animated series,
Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The game features new battle modes, head-to-head
combat and an upgraded level builder.
Tomb Raider Trilogy —A triple-pack of Lara Croft games updated with HD
graphics. The games are: Tomb Raider Legend, Tomb Raider Anniversary, and Tomb
Raider Underworld.
Mayhem 3D —A fast-paced arcade racing
and car destruction game.
Downloadable Games on PSN:
Swarm ($14.99) - An action-platformer where you take control of 50 characters through
a dangerous world while you collect DNA.
PlayStation Move Heroes ($39.99) –a PlayStation Move Motion Controller adventure containing
lots of mini games.
Battle: Los
Angeles ($9.99) - Take on an enemy unlike any other in this game of the film.
DC Universe Online ($59.99) – The full game is now available as a download. Join
others online in a universe at war containing many DC Comics characters.
Premier Manager ($9.99) – A soccer management game for hard-core soccer
fans.
Ghostbusters: Sanctum Of Slime ($9.99) - An all-new Ghostbuster game. Drive the ECTO-4WD
and shoot ghosts with a medley of weapons. Play online or local co-op with four players.
