Since teaming with Disney for Toy Story, Pixar has been at the forefront of feature animation as the studio collaborated and later officially teamed up with the Mouse House. Continuing their presence as cinematic mainstays, Pixar revealed two of their upcoming features at Disney’s popular D23 convention this weekend.
One project, currently slated for a November 27, 2013 release, will see a world where dinosaurs and humans evolved alongside each other because the asteroid responsible for the dinosaurs’ extinction never actually hit the planet.
Here’s the official logline of the as-of-yet untitled feature, courtesy of The Playlist:
“What if the cataclysmic asteroid that forever changed life on Earth actually missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct?”
As for the other feature, Pixar’s keeping that one in the dark for now. However, some brief details about the work-in-progress have surfaced: the “wildly ambitious” film will be set “inside the human mind” and focus on forming ideas. Michael Arndt, who penned the lauded scripts for Little Miss Sunshine and Toy Story 3, will lend his penmanship to the script, and Up director Pete Docter will take the helm. This one is looking to hit theaters on May 30, 2014.
More often than not, Disney/Pixar pulls through, even when the ideas seem to be a bit far-fetched. The fact that these two upcoming projects aren’t two more "Cars" sequels is reason enough to anticipate what Pixar will eventually throw our way.
