Pixar’s ‘The Good Dinosaur’ Has Undergone Major Changes

"The Better Dinosaur?"
After the disappointingly sudden release date shuffle from Summer 2014 to Fall 2015 of Pixar's pre-historic comedy The Good Dinosaur, we have gotten a bit of news on the projects ongoing turmoil. The film, which explores the possibility of what would have happened if dinosaurs had not gone extinct and thus were forced to share the planet with humans, has weathered its share of behind-the-scenes drama as of late. After removing co-director Bob Peterson (Up) and forcing the film's delay, the studio laid off 5% of its staff. But, lest we forget, most Pixar movies have production snafus behind the scenes (Brenda Chapman, the woman behind Brave, was pulled off the film during its early production and later called the experience 'devastating'), but predominantly result in spectacular films. THE-GOOD-DINOSAUR_612x380 John Lithgow has come forward, speaking with Collider, revealing he will have to completely re-do his part for the film. He plays Poppa, the father dino to Lucas Neff's Arlo.
“I recorded the entire role in Good Dinosaur. They have now dismantled it and completely reimagined it, and it is a fantastic new story. So I’m gonna record again on it within the next month.  Don’t worry.  It’s coming and it’s gonna be better than I ever imagined.”
Everyone's keeping a tight lid on the cause of such a drastic script change, but unless this major story shift also results in re-casting, the film is set to star Frances McDormand, Neil Patrick Harris, Judy Greer, and Bill Hader, alongside Neff and Lithgow. On a positive note: we will go from zero Pixar flicks this year to two in 2015: the Amy Poehler starring Inside Out releases next June. We will keep you updated as new details emerge. The Good Dinosaur opens in theaters November 25th, 2015.
