- About Us
The third annual PlayStation Experience was filled with trailers and announcements, some we saw coming and some that just blew us away. Unfortunately, not every faithful fan was able to experience the show for themselves. Luckily, we gathered all the information shown today off for your viewing pleasure.
Here is a recap of PlayStation Experience 2016.
The event began showcasing a new game featuring a protagonist hiding their identity behind a hijab. The following segment showed our mysterious hero making their through slums, avoiding the attention of guards, until they end up on a rooftop, as explosives appear in the distance. After a brief conflict with a slew of enemies, the hero meets Nadine from Uncharted 4, only to unveil her hijab to reveal her identity, Chloe Frazier, Nathan Drake’s brief love interest from Uncharted 2.
Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite
After a week of hype and speculation, it turns out all the rumors were true, Marvel vs Capcom returns in a new game. The quick look showed off some familiar faces such as X, Ryu, Iron Man, and Captain Marvel. Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite is set to feature Arcade, Training, Mission, and a story mode featuring a new villain. Featuring 2v2 combat and an Infinity Stone based system, Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite seems to be loaded with potential. It is also set to release late 2017. Along with the announcement, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 was announced to be released today on PS4, featuring all the DLC and running at 60fps and 1080p.
Destiny: The Dawning Event
Destiny returns once again, this time bringing a new holiday event to the community. The Dawning is a three-week holiday themed event featuring gifts, new game modes, and rewards. The Dawning event also marks the return of Sparrow racing, but with some added changes including maps and new gear. The event begins December 13th and will be available to all who own Destiny: Rise of Iron.
Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy
Earlier at this year’s E3, we found out that Crash Bandicoot was making a comeback on PS4. Today, we got a glimpse of its first gameplay trailer. The collection, called the N. Sane Trilogy, will include remastered editions of Crash Bandicoot 1, 2, and 3.
Street Fighter V: Season 2
We already knew Akuma was coming to Street Fighter V, but this year’s PlayStation Experience offered a first look at the demon in action. The trailer showed off Akuma in action fighting Ryu and showing off some moves, both new and classic. At the end of the trailer, additional details emerged including a December 20th release date for Akuma and a new season pass featuring five new characters.
Not only these, but other new games announced include Ace Combat 7, Ni No Kuni 2, Knack 2, and remasters of Parappa the Rapper, Locoroco, and Patapon.
Along with these few announcements, other games including Resident Evil 7, Gravity Rush 2, and Pyre showcased new details.
The Last of Us: Part II
Here’s something I didn’t see coming and I’m sure many fans will agree. Sony closed their panel with one final trailer showing a glimpse of the next Last of Us game. The trailer showed an older Ellie playing a guitar in the apocalyptic world. Joel finds her alone in this house, before Ellie claims “I’m going to kill them all”. What that means is unclear at the moment. The trailer didn’t show off a release date and I’m sure that this game still has a long way to go before release.
