Pokemon X & Y Announced Exclusively for 3DS

The time has finally arrived. 3DS owners have had to wait patiently for the first real taste of Pokemon and the wait will soon be over. Announced today via a Nintendo Direct broadcast, Pokemon X & Y will be released worldwide for the Nintendo 3DS.

This will mark the first ever step into the 3D world for the core Pokemon games and is being built specifically to take advantage of the 3DS’ capabilities. A brief glimpse of the game was also shown revealing three brand new starter Pokemon, wonderful 3D environments, and the return of classic Pokemon for the first time in 3D. The three new Pokemon are Fennekin (Fire), Chespin (Grass) and Froakie (Water).

Also importantly as I mentioned above, the game will launch worldwide simultaneously without localization delays like previous entries. That means everyone around the world will get to chase the new Pokemon at the same time. Great news indeed.

This news has been a long time coming for 3DS owning Pokemon fans. Having already been teased with the Pokedex 3D and Pokemon Conquest it’s about time they got the first core Pokemon game, especially with Black & White 2 launching last year for the DS. Well, wait no more. Well, until October but at least we now know it's coming!
